Legito PowerUp 2022: Panel Discussion – Automation in Real Estate Industry

Legito’s Noel O’Connell brought together senior industry experts from three prominent organizations who have used Legito. Each organization had a different role in the real estate world, but it was striking how they traced the drivers for innovation back to very similar triggers:

  • increase efficiency using innovation
  • reduce the opportunity for errors
  • provide a human-friendly system, especially for younger generations of employees with expectations about using technology to minimize the joyless aspects of work
We also heard that the real estate sector poses some particular demands on new solutions:
  • real estate is still a document-intensive industry, and the documents tend to be lengthy and include diverse content from diverse sources
  • document-oriented tasks are labour-intensive because they documents combine information from so many different sources, and it’s not all text – there are graphs, images, and calculations to prepare and insert

As a result, the document templates tend to be complex. There is also a requirement for some data to be collected onsite using tablet devices.

Duong Hong, a consultant, emphasized that the path to efficiency needs to start with a step that is often neglected: before deploying a new solution, do some analysis  and take some measurements relating to current processes. Only after such analysis can you get objective empirical data to identify the opportunity for improvement and be able to measure your success later.

All the panelists had the same experience of starting with small projects, which gave dramatic results because document preparation created substantial opportunity for improvement.

Panelists reported:
  • Significant time-savings for real estate professionals: two-hour document preparation tasks reduced to 20 minutes, two-day tasks reduced to two hours, checking tasks reduced from 20 or 50 minutes down to 5 minutes
  • Significant error reductions from automating tedious tasks that are error-prone for humans
  • Positive feedback from early adaptors, encouraging expansion into more projects

The panel expects to deliver more automation over time, to the extent that real estate professionals will instead focus their team on soft skills, skills that require human judgment and human interaction.

Our panelists’ enthusiasm is evident – we wish them even more success as they expand their rollout of Legito in their organisations.

Panelists:
  • Andrea Daňhelová  (Fincentrum Reality)
  • Duong Hong
  • Ingeborg Deykers and Nel Pelle (Royal BAM Group)
