Legito PowerUp 2022: Fireside Chat with Sarah Sheehan

Sarah has more than 20 years’ history (and passion) applying legal design and legal tech for lawyers, especially within corporate legal teams. Her fireside chat with Legito’s Gary Eunson was an opportunity to reflect on the changes she’s seen. When Sarah explained why she abandoned her plans to retire in 2021 (because things were getting too interesting), she gave the audience an insightful list of all the factors causing the acceleration in the adoption of technologies like Legito.

“…for the first time, all the changes swing things in favour customers who want to innovate…”

Here then is a summary of that list – the reason why the climate has changed in favour of adopters (not just for lawyers):
  • The pandemic caused a massive increase in innovation.
  • Collaboration is in vogue – collaboration between people, collaboration between people and systems, and changes in the technology powering collaboration.
  • Modern systems have safety built-in – more of them are fit to use in modern corporate environments.
  • We recognise that our work generates data, and that data has value – we can go about our business and harness of the value of that data to get insight we didn’t have before.
  • Software delivered as software-as-a-service requires no capital expenditure; it’s quick and easy to deploy – even one person can experiment and innovate.
  • No-code platforms put power in the hands of anyone who wants to innovate and make a difference. No-code systems give you the power to stand out.
  • There’s more awareness of the systems available, and they are no longer in reach of just IT teams.
