Passion is the fuel that let us grow from zero to the leading global advanced document drafting and management solutions. Passion is the reason why we have been making such incredible technological and business progress. Passion convinced, years ago, when we were still a small start-up, an international corporation from Fortune 500 list to trust Legito even without a previous track record.
We believe that only a stable, happy, proud, and cooperating team can be passionate enough to create state-of-the-art legal-tech software. We built a culture accordingly. Our top priority is our people. One of the facts We’re most proud of is that only one employee left our company in 5 years.
Our passion is to increase employee experience through user experience. We believe that human potential is endless and if employees of our clients will be able to work with tools that have great user experience like tools they use in their private time (Google-level or Facebook-level of user experience), they will be much more productive, happy and we create a better work environment for our clients.

The customer journey is super important for us.

Sharing

Sharing is key to passion, efficient work, and focus on adding value. We share our successes, challenges, ideas, and knowledge. Sharing is the reason why every single employee and partner of our company knows his/her impact on the product and its success.
Management shares the direction we are going and why so everybody can participate and get ready for the journey. Developers share how the features they developed help people so others can properly explain and communicate them to clients. Marketing and sales share feedback, so the rest of us knows we are doing meaningful work and how to improve our product.

Diversity and uniqueness

You will probably never see us in unified corporate t-shirts. We have no „from 9 am to 5 pm“ working hours. We value the uniqueness of each personality. Everyone is free to express himself/herself. We believe an open work environment supports the best in us and lead to better products.

Our Story

How Legito Reinvented Document Automation

Legito set the new level of expectations from document automation solutions. Legito offered a user experience that was never seen in document automation before.

From 2014, Legito introduced over 20 essential inventions in document drafting and management automation. Among others, smart documents (inclusion of documents and questionnaires), data-based default and favourite settings of documents, automated translations and bilingual docs, bundles (suits) of logically inter-connected documents, web-based 100% programming-free (no coding) editor for automation of documents, auto-extraction of data from automated documents, smart documents which can communicate with public registers and other external sources, or real-time document management over automated templates with work-flows and negotiation features.

2014

The Beginning

In January 2014, we came up with the first idea about smart documents. We hard-coded five popular types of agreement and released it for free to see how people will react to automated templates. The feedback to the MVP was overwhelming. People intuitively understood how smart (automated) documents work and immediately saw benefits. We had thousands of users within a few days. So, we decided to left our jobs in the legal and IT sector and went “all-in.” Legito (under its first name Contractator) was between very few startups chosen to present at Web Summit in Dublin. It was great motivation and also confirmation we are on the right path.

2015

First product

Till mid of 2015, we completely rebuilt our software. The key component we made in this time, was an editor for document automation, which also allows other people to automate documents. The 1st version of the editor, as well as the whole administration, was very narrow; therefore, we were focused on freelancers and small businesses and offered them ready-made templates. Back then, it wasn’t possible for users to automate their own documents. We started with 50 automated contracts. Legito was also selected to the very first European’s Google Accelerator, which helped us a lot to organize our marketing and business development.

2016

Scaling

Despite our initial focus on freelancers and small businesses, Legito was an immediate success. We reached our break-even point in August 2015, only two months after we released version 1.0. It allowed us to grow without any external investment, hire more engineers, and continuously develop Legito. We went step by step, adding one feature after another. We were not focused only to document drafting automation but also created a lite document management in addition to ready-made automated templates.

2017

Targeting the big ones

In 2017, Legito became robust enough to be attractive for large corporations and law firms. We started to receive emails like “We love your system, but we would love to automate our own documents.” So, we shifted our focus on the rebuilding of our editor for document automation to make automation of document as easy as using smart (automated) documents. We finished our new document automation editor in January 2018. From this time, we officially moved from “ready-made” automated document templates marketplace to “automate drafting and management of your documents” workspace.

Now

Becoming a global company

Our new document automation editor had a success, lawyers and other white-collar professionals adopted it very well. Within the next few months after the release, we closed deals with a majority of law firms in central Europe such as Schoenherr (over 300 lawyers), Havel & Partners (over 200 lawyers) and Kinstellar (Linklaters spin-off with over 200 lawyers). Large corporations became our clients, as well. We hit another milestone when Legito won a tender for a document automation solution for PwC. The results in a pilot project with PwC were so overwhelming that Legito was immediately implemented in 29 countries with thousands of active users. We proofed Legito can sever very well even to the biggest global corporations.

We incorporated in the USA and opened our office in New York, followed by another office in Germany. Currently, we have clients in 27 countries, and Legito is used in about 50 countries by over 100 000 users.

Later, we partnered up with the world’s biggest and the most traditional publishing houses such as Lexis Nexis and C.H.Beck to get closer to our customers and provide them the best possible services.

Due to our rapid growth, we split our workforce into two separate teams. One team is focused on workspaces for clients who intend to automate drafting and management of their own documents. The other team is focused on the ready-made templates and the Legito marketplace (the original model).

The success of Legito smart document workspaces allowed us to grow our development team, so we have now a team for each component of our workspace (template automation editor, smart document editor, document management, etc.). It accelerates our development, so we were able to recently add sophisticated permissions management, features for sharing, collaboration, and negotiation of documents as well as the advanced workflow of documents. However, our core is still to provide the best document drafting automation on the market.
